By the end of 2016, increased earthquake activity was observed in Öræfajökull. In order to monitor this country's largest volcano, measuring equipment has now been increased in its vicinity. Therefore, it is a good idea to see what Öræfajökull has done over the years and what it means to be a volcano. Öræfajökull, Esjufjöll and Snæfell form a cohesive eruption that is still unknown, east of the eastern belt.
